Hypnotherapy plus...

TELL ME MORE

A wide range of therapies on offer in my Taunton practice

I am a highly qualified and experienced Solution-Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist & Psychotherapist with over 35 years of experience in health and social care. In addition to Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy, I have trained and qualified in several complementary therapy models, allowing me to tailor my approach to best suit each individual’s needs.

I am committed to continuous professional development, ensuring I can draw on the most effective techniques to support a wide range of concerns. From my practice in Taunton, Somerset, I currently offer the following therapeutic approaches:

HYP

Clinical Hypnotherapy

Clinical hypnotherapy gently guides you into a state of deep relaxation and heightened focus, where the critical mind becomes quieter, allowing us to work directly with your subconscious and imagination. In this state, we can cultivate positive beliefs, patterns, and habits that support lasting, meaningful change.

While hypnotherapy is a powerful tool on its own, it can also be integrated with other therapeutic approaches for a more comprehensive and tailored approach to specific concerns. These may include:

SFBT

Solution Focused Brief Therapy

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) complements hypnotherapy by focusing on solutions and goal-setting, rather than dwelling on past problems. While hypnotherapy works to address deep-seated issues at a subconscious level, SFBT helps individuals identify their strengths and resources, empowering them to shift perspectives and develop practical strategies for positive change.

Together, hypnotherapy and SFBT offer a powerful combination, where hypnotherapy can help break down emotional barriers and reframe limiting beliefs, while SFBT focuses on creating actionable steps for progress. This collaborative approach helps individuals achieve lasting results in a short amount of time, whether it’s for anxiety, phobias, stress, low self-esteem, or other concerns.

CBT

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is one of the most extensively researched and evidence-based therapeutic approaches, making it the preferred treatment for a wide range of mental health conditions. It is endorsed by the NHS and is the primary therapy recommended by GPs for conditions such as anxiety, depression, and stress-related disorders.

CBT is based on the understanding that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. When negative or unhelpful thought patterns develop, they can create a cycle that reinforces distressing emotions and maladaptive behaviors. CBT works by identifying and challenging these faulty thought patterns, replacing them with healthier, more constructive perspectives. This, in turn, leads to more positive behaviors and emotional responses.

CBT
HYP

CBT & Hypnotherapy combined

Research has shown that Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and hypnotherapy work very effectively together, as they complement each other in powerful ways.

CBT focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors, while hypnotherapy helps access the subconscious mind, making it easier to reframe these thoughts and reinforce positive behaviors. Together, they can enhance the effectiveness of each approach, leading to quicker, more lasting changes.

Combining these therapies has been shown to improve outcomes in treating anxiety, depression, stress, phobias, and other mental health concerns, by addressing both the conscious and subconscious mind in a balanced way.

NLP

Neuro Linguistic Programming

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a therapeutic approach that combines principles of Life Coaching with techniques aimed at improving communication, behavior, and thought patterns. It focuses on how we think, communicate, and perceive the world, with an emphasis on achieving personal and professional goals.

NLP complements hypnotherapy by adding a practical, goal-setting framework to the therapeutic process. While hypnotherapy works on a deeper subconscious level to reprogram limiting beliefs and patterns, NLP focuses on helping individuals identify specific objectives, break them down into achievable steps, and overcome any mental barriers that might be holding them back.

The combination of hypnotherapy and NLP is particularly powerful, as it addresses both the subconscious and conscious aspects of change. Hypnotherapy helps to remove deep-seated emotional blocks, while NLP offers tools to clarify goals and accelerate progress toward them. This dual approach fosters greater self-awareness, motivation, and confidence in achieving personal and professional aspirations.

Together, these methods are highly effective in treating anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, phobias, and other challenges, while empowering individuals to set and achieve meaningful goals in various areas of life.

ACT

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) complements hypnotherapy by focusing on helping individuals clarify their personal values and take meaningful action based on those values. ACT encourages a deeper understanding of what truly matters to a person, helping them align their behaviors with their core beliefs. This process increases psychological flexibility, allowing individuals to adapt more easily to life's challenges and engage in behaviors that support their long-term well-being.

While hypnotherapy works to reprogram limiting beliefs and emotional patterns on a subconscious level, ACT provides the tools for individuals to stay committed to their values, even in the face of difficult emotions or situations. This combined approach promotes not only mental and emotional healing but also a sense of purpose and direction, making it easier for individuals to live a more fulfilling, meaningful life.

Together, hypnotherapy and ACT foster a greater sense of inner peace, resilience, and personal growth by addressing both subconscious patterns and conscious action toward life goals.

MBCT

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) complements hypnotherapy by helping individuals break free from automatic reactions to thoughts and feelings. While hypnotherapy works on the subconscious to reprogram emotional patterns, MBCT encourages awareness and mindful responses, promoting emotional regulation and resilience.

With training in these therapeutic models, I offer a person-centered approach tailored to your needs. If you'd like to discuss how I can help you, please contact me to arrange a consultation at my practice in Taunton, Somerset.
