Solution Focused Hypnotherapy Supervision
In December 2010, I became a qualified Clinical Supervisor for Hypnotherapists, a skill that allows me to share my experience and further contribute to the growth of the hypnotherapy profession. Solution-focused clinical supervision offers a simple yet profound approach to the supervisory relationship, focusing on enhancing the range of options available to help you move forward positively.
At the core of solution-focused work is the principle of seeking solutions rather than dwelling on problems (Iveson, 2002). This philosophy is encapsulated in what Waskett (2006) describes as ‘spacious simplicity’—a simplicity born from mutual respect and the intention to move forward positively (Fowler, 2005). In the context of clinical supervision, various techniques and ideas from solution-focused therapies can be applied to enhance the supervisory relationship. These include (George et al, 1999):
- The use of scales
- Focused questions
- Identifying exceptions
- Constructive feedback
- Follow-up tasks
These tools allow me to engage collaboratively with you, encouraging reflection on your practice while maintaining a focus on solutions. Our supervisory relationship is rooted in mutual respect and equality, creating a safe, non-judgmental space for open and honest communication. Together, we will reflect on work-related issues in an environment designed to support your growth and development.
I offer supervision in the following formats:
Group Sessions
Group supervision is available at £35 per person per session, with a maximum duration of 3 hours. Sessions are held bi-monthly, online via Zoom. The £35 fee is paid monthly at £17.50 a month via standing order. This model entitles you to attend six group sessions per year and provides access to additional support between sessions, via the WhatsApp Group, telephone, or email. This approach meets the expectations of most regulatory and membership organisations.
Disclaimer: Please note that the fees cover my time, expertise, and the structured support provided during the supervision sessions. While supervision aims to enhance professional development, individual outcomes may vary depending on personal engagement and the nature of the issues discussed. All supervision sessions are conducted with the utmost confidentiality. Any personal or professional information shared during sessions will remain strictly confidential, unless there is a legal obligation to disclose it. I also recommend checking with your specific association to ensure that these sessions meet their criteria and requirements for clinical supervision.
